A Path of Healing, Growth, and Learning.
My gosh, where to begin with my journey? It spans a few decades and how ideologies, treatments, and awareness have changed, thank goodness!
I’ve received healing for events in this lifetime, during birth, generationally, and past life. I’m thankful to all of my teachers. Am I thankful for all that’s happened to me? I’m hopeful that I’ve learnt and grown and taken lessons from these events. As for any hurt that I have caused others, I’m really sorry and hope by owning my part you are able to be released and find your healing as well.
Rather than a “he said, she said” conversation I thought it more beneficial just to state what I have overcome so far in this journey.
I knew I was sensitive in my younger years, I was plagued with self-doubt, believing I wasn’t good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, anything enough. I had such a fear of expressing myself especially in a group or with authority figures. I learnt to be quiet, to be a good girl, and do what I was told, a people pleaser. I was not able to express myself or my emotions in a healthy way for anybody.
I pretended that I wasn’t sensitive for most of my adult life, suppressing my emotions and using humour to mask the way that I felt which had the effect of burying my emotions and myself.
Only to come to the realisation in my latter years that I am sensitive. The difference now being that I have many tools in my toolbox to allow the flow of these sensitivities in a positive way, and the confidence to express myself and be myself, comfortable in my own skin. If you disagree with me or don’t like me, that’s Ok, you are not my tribe, it doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with me, or anything wrong with you.
How have I achieved this? Simply put, determination and grit. I studied, read, did courses, and at the end of the day the profound change came from working on myself (with the help of an expert or two). It was once I released the traumatization (the effect of traumatic events), reframed negative beliefs (took away the illogical learnings that were holding up my negative beliefs) that I achieved permanent change. I did this through Emotional Freedom Techniques (tapping) and Matrix Reimprinting including Light Matrix. I now have many tools for calming the nervous system and anxiety, taking the heat out of events and conflicts, allowing safety to ‘go there’ to release the triggers.
Becoming a Mum was a turning point for me. I knew I needed to upskill in order to offer my children an environment to thrive and flourish and be the best versions of themselves. I didn’t get it right all of the time by a long shot however my sons are loving, confident, free thinkers, whether they agree with me or not! They are great communicators and all-round good guys. Humanitarians. That is the proof in my pudding for me.
I am now openly the person that deep down I have always been, I was simply buried under a whole lot of debris (blocked by my wall of events) and lacking the confidence to be seen. Now I’m happy to be me, my imperfections, my mistakes, they are mine, as are my achievements.
Am I done learning and growing? No. I love peeling the layers of the onion and anticipate with excitement my future. It is a relief to release the baggage.
In a nutshell I the list below are a lot of the things I have overcome using Emotional Freedom Techniques, these things no longer bother me and if they show up in my life I have the fortitude and resilience to deal with them and bounce back very quickly:
- A fear of being me, of being seen
- Self-doubt, self-consciousness (shyness)
- Fear of speaking
- Fear of public speaking
- Fear of singing
- Self-consciousness
- Anxiety general
- Separation anxiety
- Sleep problems
- Emotional Eating
- Food Cravings
- Passive/aggressive behaviour
- Physical abuse
- Emotional abuse
- Migration
- Narcissistic abuse
- Vicarious trauma
- Bullying
- Workplace bullying
- Boom and bust behaviours
- Adrenal fatigue
- Traumatisation from migration
- Betrayal
- Grief – loss of a parent
- Grief – loss of a relationship
- Grief – loss of my pets
- Grief – loss of dreams
- Grief – loss of a business
- Loss of mobility through an accident
- I am not good enough (my underlying core negative belief)
I am most proud of the clarity I’ve gained about who I am, my place in the world, and what I will and won’t tolerate. Through clearing the self-doubt and confusion from narcissistic abuse, I’ve emerged knowing my purpose and what I am here to contribute. The journey continues, and I welcome it. I’m excited about it.
I hope my learnings can be of benefit to you.
From my heart to yours,
Barb
